Greed for what?

I am writing this article with the intention of all-inclusiveness in the first person so that you also read this in the first person.

Greed

A selfish desire for money, power and/or fame is what I consider greed. It is possible to be greedy for basics like food and clothing but the intention is self-gratification hence, it is a want and not a need for survival.

Limitations of Greed

If I look around me, all the survival basics are available free of cost with some exceptions. 

The 5 elements (water, earth, air, fire and space) are all available in free of cost and in unlimited quantities. The consumption is limited to my needs.

Role of Greed

Greed starts with the thought of consuming more resources for more happiness. The mind's strange formula: more consumption = more happiness. 

This formula only works until I stay within optimal limits, beyond that it becomes toxic either in a tangible way (disease) or intangible way (attitude, mental health issues).

Utility of Greed

The utility is limited because greed itself means that I have all the basics and essentials. 

There is no reason for me to forcefully achieve more except when it is needed to fulfil survival requirements.

Break-Even Point

The break-even point in business is when total income and total expenses are equal means the profit and loss are both zero. The point of no profit, no loss is the break-even point.

Greed begins beyond the break-even point. At the break-even point, all my necessities are mostly fulfilled and there is a level of comfort already established.

Conclusion

Greed may earn me a lot in the short term but the intention itself can become a reason for the biggest setback. 

I do not know when but at some point I will end this life as a failure because it will not be a fulfilled life when I reflect back.

Anyways, I am not taking any material belongings to the grave either so whatever I take is the spirituality achieved by working on the soul.

Never Compromise On Your Vision

Do you find yourself compromising on your goals, lifestyle or the choices you make and then realise you could've ditched it at the time for something better in the future?
